On Saturday 3rd July 2021, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., the CAJO hosted the second of its 2021 programming as part of its virtual conference year. International Public and Private Law from the Civil Law Perspective: Relevance for Caribbean Judicial Practice was facilitated by Professor Flora Goudappel (Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Curacao), Mr Rogier van den Heuvel (Attorney at Law), Justice Jacob Wit (Caribbean Court of Justice), and Justice Mauritsz de Kort (Vice-President, Joint Court of Justice).
Professor Goudappel presented first on Public International Law from the Civil Law perspective, followed by commentary from Justices Wit and de Kort and a moderated Q&A. After a short break, the same was done for Private International Law, presented by Mr Rogier van den Heuvel.
